Purpose of the Role
The Commercial Business Development Consultant is responsible for seeking new business through networking, forging and sustaining strong client relationships, and growing an existing client base — by offering complete, end-to-end integrated risk mitigation solutions tailored to each client’s unique security needs.
The role requires the BDC to design, cost, propose, and present complex integrated security solutions that represent not only Fidelity ADT’s commercial offering but the full spectrum of the Fidelity Services Group’s capabilities — making this one of the most commercially sophisticated and financially rewarding sales roles in the South African security sector.
Key Responsibilities – Commercial Business Development Consultant
New Business Development & Revenue Growth
- Take full accountability for client growth and proactively increasing turnover through both the existing client base and new client acquisition.
- Identify and develop sales opportunities across the Eastern Cape commercial market — incorporating extensive cold calling, networking, and referral-based prospecting activities to maximise growth within the assigned territory.
- Secure profitable new business from commercial clients across all sectors — manufacturing, retail, hospitality, healthcare, property, and professional services.
- Attend to potential clients in different areas of responsibility across the Eastern Cape region.
- Ensure Revenue targets are consistently met by achieving planned monthly and quarterly sales goals.
Solution Design, Costing & Proposals
- Physically conduct site surveys for all client security requirements — assessing risk exposures, access points, surveillance needs, and integration requirements on-site.
- Personally design and cost the complete integrated security solution for each client — covering CCTV, access control, alarm systems, armed response, electric fencing, monitoring, and any specialist security technology required.
- Prepare and present complex, customised security proposals — including technical drawings, costing schedules, and technical addenda — at a standard that wins competitive tenders and high-value contracts.
- Ensure all quotations are submitted timeously to clients, and all contracts and quotations are completed accurately and in full with all required documentation attached.
- Ensure only company-approved equipment in accordance with Fidelity ADT’s policies is specified and sold.
- Ensure timeous submission of all paperwork to allow sufficient time for sourcing any non-standard stock items required.
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain professional, trust-based, long-term relationships with both existing and new commercial clients across the Eastern Cape.
- Address and resolve client queries promptly and satisfactorily — escalating where required and following through to full resolution.
- Plan, budget, co-ordinate, and attend to client requirements throughout the sales cycle and post-installation relationship management phase.
Market Intelligence & Competitor Knowledge
- Acquire thorough, in-depth trade and competitor knowledge across the Eastern Cape security market.

Reporting & Administration
