Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is seeking a high-caliber Senior Cashier to join our premier Willowbridge store in Tygervalley. In this role, you are more than just a point-of-sale operator; you are a guardian of the customer experience and a frontline defender against financial inaccuracy. Role Purpose
The Senior Cashier supports customer service at the point of sale while ensuring a world-class shopping experience. You will be responsible for recording customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system with zero tolerance for inaccuracies. Your goal is to eliminate fraud risk, manage complex loyalty partner transactions, and ensure every customer leaves the store feeling valued and satisfied.
Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Transactional Integrity & Payments

Payment Processing: Receive and process all payment forms accepted by Dis-Chem, including cash, bank cards, vouchers, and coupons.

Loyalty Programs: Expertly process all loyalty cards, including accelerator partners such as Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks.

Audit Trail: Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved and signed off by the supervisor. Strictly scan every item and script to ensure revenue protection.
2. Cash Management & Security

Fraud Prevention: Adhere to security SOPs with a zero-tolerance approach to fraud. Use drop safes according to policy and keep your secure access codes confidential.

Confidentiality: Handle daily takings with the highest level of discretion, discussing financial details only with authorized store management.

Risk Awareness: Be alert to suspicious behavior and report any potential security threats to management immediately.
3. Customer Experience & Communication

5-Star Principles: Manage and execute the Dis-Chem 5-Star Communication Principles to ensure a professional and welcoming atmosphere.

Resolution: Handle merchandise exchanges and authorized returns while reporting all customer feedback (compliments or complaints) to the Frontline Supervisor.

Product Knowledge: Address customer queries regarding store merchandise and stay informed about current sales and promotions.
Requirements & Competencies
Essential Requirements

Education: Grade 12 / Matric.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ experience in cashier and till operations is essential.

Digital Literacy: Computer literate (MS Office) and experienced with retail operating systems.

Citizenship: South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records.
